Hello Friends,
The last time I tried to remove glitter nail polish it felt like I had lost about twenty minutes of my life that I was never going to get back. I was also starting to think that I had to put a bottle of nail polish remover on the shopping list for the week. To put it simply, glitter polish was a biaaatch to remove.
Surely there is a better way to remove glitter nail polish, right? Right on sister there is!
After doing some research through fellow bloggers, I tried the following technique. It does take a little bit longer than your normal removal time but definitely not as long as twenty minutes.
Please excuse my photos as it was taken at night time and I had to remove my nail polish at the time (Black. Girl-ified.) quick-snap so I can wear a new colour the following day.
First things first, I used the following items:
* Cotton balls (I chose five as I split them in half to get ten for each nail...and also because all my nails had glitter polish - otherwise you wouldn't need so many)
* Nail polish remover
* Small pieces of aluminium foil cut to size to fit around your finger
Step 1: Split the cotton balls into two
Step 2: Lightly soak cotton ball with nail polish remover
Step 3: Place soaked cotton ball onto finger nail with glitter polish
Step 4: Wrap foil over cotton ball and around finger - ensure to wrap securely so that cotton ball stays on the fingernail. Repeat this step until all finger nails look like the below picture (it felt just as weird as it looks but trust me, the results are rewarding!)
Step 5: Wait for polish remover to soak into nail polish (I waited about three minutes then I started getting a tingling sensation. I've read that it needs to stay on for about five minutes).
Step 6: Remove foil and cotton ball
Step 7: Wipe off any excess polish - any residue will be a breeze to remove
This is what one of my finger nails looked like after I removed the foil. The tingling was concerning me but if I had kept the cotton ball on for longer then all of the polish may have been removed but wiping the rest off was a breeze and no extra energy was exerted trying to get rid of stubborn glitter.
So, what's my verdict? This is super simple and as I have a secret obsession for all things shiny and sparkly, I look forward to wearing many, many, MANY more glitter polishes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the fellow bloggers for this tip. You guys rock!
If there any other tips to remove glitter polish I would love to hear and try it!
Until next time!

Hi! This is exactly the way soak off gels and gel polishes are meant to be soaked off. The wraps should just be kept a little longer, say about 10-15 minutes. Only in my case it doesn't really work as it does in the movies...ha ha... :)
ReplyDeleteHope you had/have a wonderful honeymoon. <3 By the way, did you get those shellac nails or go just without polish to your honeymoon?
Hi CaraMia! Thank you so much for your comment and stopping by my blog! The honeymoon was so much fun and it was really sad to leave and come back home. The 'home sweet home' feeling is only just slowly coming back :) I didn't do shellac nails (i couldn't bear the thought of numerous days of the same colour!) so i left home with no polish, but came back home with some colour! Will be updating my blog soon to tell my story about the manicure I experienced while away. Have a fantastic weekend x
